Fontaine Selected to Build New Math and Science Center at the Berkshire School
February 1, 2011
Fontaine Bros. has been selected to build the New Math and Science Center at the Berkshire School in Sheffield, MA. Planned to achieve at least LEEDİ Silver Certification, the building highlights the school's commitment to sustainability while also serving as a visual highlight of the campus.
Designed by Centerbrook Architects and Planners of Centerbrook, CT, the building was drawn completely in 3-D using AutoDesk Revit Software. BIM programs, such as Revit, allow the owner, architect and contractor to picture the building throughout the entire design process and help during the coordination process, saving time and money.
Construction is scheduled to start in early March, and the building will be ready for occupancy before the 2012-2013 school year. The Math and Science Center marks the third project that Fontaine has undertaken at the Berkshire School, following the gut renovation of the landmark Berkshire Hall in 2008 and improvements to the Allen dormitory completed during the summer of 2010.
