Fontaine wins Project of the Year Award from The Construction Institute

Springfield, MA

December 5, 2011

The recently completed Figge Hall at the College of the Holy Cross has been awarded the 2011 Project of the Year Award – Private Sector from the Construction Institute of Massachusetts.

The Construction Institute’s Pride in Construction Project of the Year Award program recognizes projects that have been constructed in Massachusetts that have had a positive impact on the construction industry. Entries were judged based upon the project’s quality of construction, impact on the community, and safety achievements amongst other criteria.

The $20 million dollar, 60,000 square foot dormitory featuring apartment style suites, was awarded to Fontaine in 2010 and took approximately 16 months to complete. The building features views over the City of Worcester and provides floor to ceiling windows on the first and second floor. Designed to achieve LEED Certification, the project is currently on track for LEED Silver Status or better.

Fontaine Bros. self performed the concrete, masonry, and rough carpentry on the project, a choice that benefitted the project tremendously as it ensured quality and control for the College. The project was designed by CBT Architects, of Boston.
