Fontaine Awarded $85 million West Springfield High School Project

Fontaine Bros. has recently been awarded the contract to build the new West Springfield High School.
Construction will begin in the winter of 2011, and items of work to be completed in the first year include the demolition of a small wing of the existing high school and the construction of a new track and field complex to be open for the 2012-2013 school year. Construction of the new school will continue through 2013, after which the existing building will be demolished and new parking and hardscape areas will be constructed.
The 260,000 square foot school was designed by Symmes, Maini & McKee Associates of Cambridge, and the Owner’s Project Manager is Strategic Building Solutions. The project is seeking LEED Gold Certification under LEED 2009 for schools.
